August 6, 2008:
Sadly, the latest models of the PSP currently can't be flashed with custom firmware. It isn't possible to determine if a PSP is the newest model, it can only found out by trial and error. Possibly a solution will be offered in the future.
June 28, 2008:
After not being able to update the website for a long time, finally it's been updated again. And there's news! Custom Firmware has evolved to 4.01 M33-2. This version supports all new features from Sony's official 4.01 firmware and of course all additions from earlier Custom Firmwares. One of the new features is that for the first time it is possible to translate the Recovery menu, eg. to Dutch.
May/June 2008:
Recently, an alternative to the M33 firmwares has become available, called GEN firmware. In fact, the GEN firmwares are remakes of the equivalent M33 firmwares. But where Dark_AleX, the M33 firmware programmer, decided to update his firmware only after the release of the official 4.00 firmware (most recent version is now 3.90 M33-3), there's a GEN firmware available that is based on 3.95.
September 10, 2007:
Thanks to smart programming by the Russian groep M33, only 5 days after the introduction of the Slim it can already be hacked. The factory-installed 3.60 will be extended with all features that the old PSP with firmware 3.52 M33-4 offers. Sadly, 1.00/1.50 homebrew will not work anymore.
September 5, 2007:
The new model of the PSP is available in Europe. The official naming is "Slim&Light" and it comes equipped with firmware 3.60, which currently can't be downgraded. The Slim will be available in black and silver, but because the silver is currently hard to get, most will be black.
August 23, 2007:
As from this moment, it will be possible to downgrade or unbrick ANY PSP for 20 euro only, regardless the firmware version!
June 30, 2007:
Today Sony released firmware version 3.51. It's expected that this update patches the Lumines exploit. That means that firmware 3.51 (and future higher versions) can NOT be downgraded by software. Do NOT update! It DOESN'T add anything to your PSP. Of course, we can still hardware downgrade this version!
June 27, 2007:
The downgrader for 3.50 has been released. That means that from this moment on, we will downgrade all models PSP with a firmware version up to 3.50 by software. Check the firmware page for more information.
June 23, 2007:
The Noobz team has just announced that they found an exploit in the game Lumines. The exploit is valid for all firmware versions upto 3.50. At this moment, only a proof of concept is available but expectations are that soon a downgrader will be released, based on this exploit. That means that in the near future, all PSP's with a firmware version upto 3.50 will be downgradable. Of course, we will offer this service to you!
June 8, 2007:
The rumour about the Dutch PSP's has been disarmed by Sony. Seemingly they found it to be of enough importance for a reaction. The official statement is that the recent price drop caused such an increase of demand, that temporary the PSP isn't on stock in Europe. There is no recall. Shops that had to send back their stock probably did that on demand of their own head office, probably to share stock over fast-selling shops.
June 7, 2007:
There's a rumour going around that all Dutch PSP console stock has to be sent back to Sony. The PSP's should be replaced by units that are "undowngradable". At this moment, it's unclear if this is true or just a hoax. Fact is that all Dutch stock is "sold out", but that could have easily been caused by customers running for "the latest downgradable" PSP's. Common expectations are that, if this rumour proves to be true, Sony will just update all units to firmware version 3.50, because they consider that as un-downgradable. We'll keep you informed. Chances are that the "new" units can still be harddowned by us.
